Helping to build deeper relationships with God

Today is Friday and I am listening to the events on the news regarding the suspects in the Boston bombing. I feel sad both for the victims, families, and those who were in Boston during that horrible tragedy.  I also feel sad for the family of these two suspects who allegedly, committed the bombing. I am praying for Gods comfort, peace, and wisdom in this situation because this is a hard place.....

Last night one of my daughters and I had a talk about pushing through hard places. We talked about how God allows us to experience hard places to mature us and to help others. Many times we go through hard places so that we may draw closer to Him.  This morning when I opened my Bible it landed on Matthew 5:10.

"You're blessed when your commitment to God provokes persecution. The persecution drives you even deeper into God's kingdom".
Matthew 5:10 (NIV)

As my daughter began sharing about what she is wrestling  with within her eleven year old life it gave me a gentle reminder that no one is exempt from hard places, but it is what we do when we are in the hard places. She confessed that there were days that she just didn't understand why things are so hard and why we have to go through them. I explained to her that God has a purpose for her and that we must go through the hard places not just for ourselves but for others.  I shared with her that the things that she is doing right now, that commitment to being a child of the King, her commitment to her ministry (giving Bibles to those that don't have them) comes with experiencing hard places. It requires us to push through them, it shows us a glimpse of what Jesus endured for us. It also allows us to depend on Him more and more. Others need to see that in spite of situations and circumstances, Gods grace is sufficient, it is enough.

"And he said to me, My grace is sufficient for you: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest on me." 2nd Corinthians 12:9 (KJV)

I asked her, as she lay her head down upon her pillow, "do you believe that God, His love, and grace is enough for you to push through when you encounter those places that seem like they are so hard?" With tears draping her eyes like two beautiful diamond necklaces, she said "yes mom. He is".  I kissed her on the forehead as I said goodnight. As I walked out of her room, I started to ask myself the same question.... "are you enough for me Father when I face the hard places?" Yes you are daddy! Yes you are!

Now I ask this question of you.... "Is He enough to push you through your hard places?" I pray that He is for today.

Love you family,

Hello everyone! I can finally say that I am ready to fly. I am jumping off the cliff (or in my case, getting off the couch).  I am ready for this next journey that God has me on.  I am not sure what it all entails but isn't that just like Jesus to only give you a few instructions about following Him (Matthew 4:19)?

Actually it is quite exciting because I have to have faith in this ministry. It is all on Him to show me the way. I am not going to lie and say that it is totally easy nor that I am not a little nervous about what is before me (or us, because this includes my family) but this one thing I know.... the love of Christ is so incredible and amazing that there is no place else that I would rather be. I want to be where He is. I want to throw this thing called life at Him and trust in Him. I have already seen what I can do with it and its best that I give it over to daddy.

So you are with me on this amazing ride. I promise not to know everything, I promise that some days I may make you smile, cry,  and think. There may be days while reading you may be angry at my opinion, or laugh out loud because you can relate. But most importantly I promise with all my heart to show you the love of God because it is only by His grace that I am able to even begin this. All praise and honor is His and He will get the glory!

Thank you for stopping by and I cant wait for our conversations and relationship to begin.

Much love,
